Food Drive for Nearby School District

Food insecurity is something that plagues a surprising number of Westmoreland County families.

Danielle Jellison, BSN, RN, a clinical nurse on the Staffing Support Team (SST) at Latrobe Hospital, coordinated a house-wide holiday food drive, in partnership with the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society (LAHAS), and the Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation to provide food baskets to 110 families within the Derry Area School District.  She implored the help of all departments, assigning a specific menu item to each area.  Monetary donations were also accepted.

“Derry School District has always been helpful with the planning and this is something we at Latrobe enjoy participating in,” said Jellison.
