Excela Health in concert with the award-winning Arnold Palmer Cancer Center offers a multi-disciplinary approach that provides quality care and treatment for adult patients and their families in all stages of the cancer continuum—from early detection, to initial diagnosis, through treatment to palliative care. This approach is designed to assure optimal outcomes, patient satisfaction and quality of life.
With Excela Health’s highly skilled medical staff and joint venture with UPMC CancerCenter, a partner with University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, patients receive expert care from a multispecialty treatment team without leaving their community.
Outpatient care is coordinated through the Arnold Palmer Cancer Center – part of one of the largest integrated networks of cancer physicians and health care specialists in the country. This wide network of researchers and providers not only delivers state of the art care, but is also involved in seeking out new approaches.
Some of those new approaches come as a result of clinical trials. The Arnold Palmer Cancer Center is the recipient of the 2015 C Cup Award for Excellence and Leadership in Clinical Trials. The award was presented to the medical oncology physicians for having the most patients enrolled in research studies from community practice sites in the network.
Everyone gets involved: the full team of specialists in cancer care, the experts in all related fields. Patients are encouraged to take an active role. A large educational library is available to help patients understand their disease and their treatment options. We also offer a full range of support services, too – symptom and side effect management, support groups, nutrition counseling, social services, and more.
At Excela Health and the Arnold Palmer Cancer Center, patient attention is always personal, including human touches such as hand-made radiation robes and chemo caps, help with wigs and hats, and professional counseling regarding breast prostheses and bras. And our home care team is there to offer needed support and information outside of the treatment setting.
