Nursing at Independence Health System: Meet Ronee

Ronee Haller BSN, RNMeet Ronee Haller, BSN, RN at Independence Health System. She's been with the health system for 24 years. After working in the OB unit for eight years, Ronee transitioned into education. She currently works in the Education Department at Butler Hospital.

"My position now is a mixture of many educational roles and draws on my years of nursing experience in direct patient care. I present new employee orientation and coordinate staff education for multiple different areas. I also teach prenatal and family education classes for the community, and lead the Junior Auxiliary Program.

One of my favorite things is teaching community members. One of my favorite classes is the 'It’s a girl Thing' class is for 9 to 12 year old girls and their Mom’s. Most girls do NOT want to be there, and they let me know that in the beginning! So I love when they are engaged the last half of the class and tell me “It actually was not that bad and kinda fun”. It’s so much fun to get people excited about educational topics. I am looking forward to the Junior Auxiliary Program this summer. It's exciting to get to work with high schoolers who are just starting to explore possible careers in healthcare!

I have been a nurse for almost 30 years. I started working as a nursing assistant while I was in nursing school. After nursing school, I was a staff nurse OB/Labor and Delivery for 13 years and additionally taught prenatal classes while working in those positions which started my path to education. I also worked as a school nurse for more than ten years. I truly believe in taking advantage of opportunities as they present themselves and that will eventually guide your career in ways that are fulfilling. I took advantage of the tuition reimbursement offered at IHS recently and completed my BSN in 2021.
