Specialty Programs
Aquatic Therapy
Therapeutic exercises in the water promote muscle relaxation, facilitating stretching and reducing pain. Water buoyancy allows for increased ease of movement for weakened muscles and inflamed joints.
Balance Disorders and Dizziness Treatment
The regimen may include balance exercises; flexibility, strength and conditioning exercises; evaluation on the NeuroCom Balance Master for scanning balance dysfunction and defining treatment; habituation exercise for specific movement and position changes, and more. While the diagnosis of a balance disorder including vertigo can be complicated, if left untreated, it can result in decreased activity or social isolation.
Hand Therapy
Our certified hand therapists along with occupational therapists help you improve hand function by promoting wound healing, reducing swelling and pain, increasing joint range of motion, strength and sensation, and coordination through a variety of treatments such as custom splinting, manual therapies, stretching and strengthening exercise, functional activities and others. We treat hand injuries and related shoulder, elbow and wrist problems.
Lymphedema Services
Trained in lymphedema assessment, management and treatment, our therapists can evaluate an individual’s functional limitations; talk with the individual about the do’s and don’ts associated with the condition; plan a customized treatment program that may include decongestive massage, compression bandaging, manual lymph drainage, exercise/movement and others, and develop a home program so you can continue your active lifestyle.
Neurologic Rehabilitation
Our interdisciplinary treatment can help to optimize functional recovery for those with a wide range of neurologic issues including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson's disease, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, concussion and others.
Concussion Therapy
After a diagnosis and treatment for concussion, outpatient therapies may aid in recovery. Treatment may include exertion therapy/return to play, vestibular therapy, cognitive therapy and exercise along with other methods of treatment.
Outpatient Orthopedic Rehabilitation
If you are experiencing a sports injury, hip or knee replacement, sprain or strain, traumatic injury, fracture or other conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, we can help through a comprehensive range of therapies and specialized programs. Additionally, we offer an anti-gravity treadmill, the Alter G, at our Excela Square at Latrobe location, utilizing NASA technology to shorten recovery times, reduce injury, and improve mobility for patients. This technology reduces impact, pain and effort during walking, running, balance and strengthening exercises.
