Hybrid Operating Room
What is a Hybrid Operating Room?
A hybrid operating room is a modern surgical suite that offers the surgical team increased flexibility during minimally invasive and open procedures. Traditionally when imaging was needed, this required the patient to travel to different areas of the hospital. The hybrid OR limits this by encompassing state-of-the-art imaging and a comprehensive medical team to serve the patient all in the same room. It also allows the team flexibility to seamlessly transition from a minimally invasive surgery to an open one if needed.
The hybrid OR allows the surgical team to utilize advanced intraoperative imaging techniques. This helps the surgical team visualize small areas of the body such as veins, blood vessels and heart muscles. The advanced technologies of the hybrid OR benefit the patient and medical team, leading to increased patient safety and often decreases the amount of time a patient is under anesthesia.
