Excela Health Role Spotlight: Jason, PA

Meet physicians assistant, Jason George. Jason works in cardiothoracic surgery. He has been with Excela Health for nine years. Jason's role on the patient care team is helping patients better understand their heart disease.

"I care for patients completely from their pre-surgery screenings and admission to their discharge. I work closely with patients to discuss in detail their upcoming surgery, provide physical exams, order necessary testing for patients during their pre and post-op care, and assist the surgeons with the surgery in multiple ways (including vein harvesting from the leg or radial artery through endovascular techniques). While patients recover in the hospital, I also take part in their post-operative care and help prepare them for discharge. Once discharged, I am able to follow-up with our patients in the clinic during their one and six week post-operative appointments; making sure that they have received the highest standard of care."

His favorite part of the job "helping people through the strenuous mental and physical journey of heart surgery and being part of a great team."
