Excela Health Continues to Excel in Patient Safety

LATROBE, PA, November 8, 2018 –  Excela Health and Latrobe Hospital are once again recognized for safe patient care, having received an ‘A’ in The Leapfrog Groups Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes Excela Latrobe Hospital’s continuing efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D, or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections, and other harms among patients in their care.

“This marks the third straight grading period in which Excela Latrobe Hospital has
received an “A”, and we couldn’t be more pleased,” said Maryann Singley, MSN, RN, the
hospital’s Vice President of Patient Care Services. “It truly takes a village to provide
care to our patients. Teamwork and adherence to best practices help to ensure that the
right care is delivered to the right patient at the right time.”

Of the 132 hospitals receiving grades in Pennsylvania, Excela Latrobe is one of 50 with
the A grade.

recognized for their efforts in preventing medical harm and errors.”
