Modernization of Excela Latrobe Hospital Continues

LATROBE, PA, March 18, 2018 … Excela Health continues its commitment to the Latrobe community through the ongoing modernization of the Excela Latrobe Hospital campus. More than $2 million is earmarked for improvements to patient care and visitor and employee parking on the campus. These improvements are all expected to be completed by late summer or early fall and follow on the heels of the $40 million investment to create Excela Square at Latrobe which opened in January. Key to that project was support from Latrobe Area Hospital Charitable Foundation, which is also supporting the remodeling of hospital inpatient care units. The hospital’s 5th Floor was updated last fall A facelift to the 4th Floor will begin in the next few weeks. Fresh paint and floor treatments along with a renovated nurses station and treatment areas are among the cosmetic improvements planned.

While work is occurring inside, construction crews will be busy outside
developing staff and visitor parking through the expansion of existing lots along
Second Avenue and the demolition of the hospital parking garage. Over the next six
months, the building which housed Women’s Care Services will be removed as will the parking garage and new open-air parking lots created. A lot near the Choice Gas
The station on East Second Avenue will also be expanded. A total of 120 parking spaces will be created as a result.

The bid process is underway for all of the parking improvements. The new lots
on the site of Women’s Care Service and the East End should be ready by mid-June
when garage demolition will begin. In the meantime, the garage remains closed in the
interest of safety.

anticipating improvements to our outpatient Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health
Services and the addition of other outpatient services not currently offered at this
campus later this year as well."
