LATROBE, PA. …  Excela Health and Latrobe Hospital are once again recognized for safe patient care, having received an ‘A’ in The Leapfrog Groups Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes Excela Latrobe Hospital’s continuing efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.

NEW PARTNERSHIP WILL SERVE BEREAVED CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
LATROBE, PA … The Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media, Excela Health and Seton Hill University will commemorate a new partnership to serve bereaved children and their families in Westmoreland County. On November 13, 2018, beginning at 11:30 AM in the Fred M. Rogers Building, the partners will host a press conference to unveil the brochure “When Someone Your Child Loves Dies: A Guide from the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media and discuss emerging services to support parents and other adults as they care for a grieving child.    read more ...



WESTMORELAND COUNTY’S HIGH LUNG CANCER INCIDENCE RATE COMBATTED BY EXCELA HEALTH

GREENSBURG, Pa., … Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and the second most common cancer among both men and women in the United States, often precipitated by a lifetime of tobacco use.  With Westmoreland County exceeding the state and national incidence rate for lung cancer, Excela Health offers a breath of fresh air to the community through a wide range of lung services. The topic is particularly relevant during November, which is designated Lung Cancer Awareness Month and when the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout occurs  - this year on November 15.

ONLINE SCHEDULING FOR MAMMOGRAMS AVAILABLE AT EXCELA HEALTH

GREENSBURG, PA … Scheduling a mammogram is more convenient than ever, as Excela Health offers online scheduling. By visiting www.excelahealth.org/ScheduleMyMammo patients are able to schedule their mammogram and receive an appointment confirmation within 24 business hours. Patients provide their contact information along with two preferred appointment locations, dates and times, and Excela Health’s schedulers do the rest.
