Excela Frick Hospital has been ranked in the top 10% in the Northeast for medical excellence in General Surgery. Medical excellence is measured by a composite performance across six areas of quality:  Process of care, mortality, complications, inpatient quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction.  Of the hospitals and health systems across the country, Excela Frick Hospital ranked among the top, meaning that you can feel confident you are receiving not only the care you need, but care that rivals any in the Northeast.

U.S. News & World Report Top Rankings for Excela Frick Hospital

Excela Health and its hospitals once again have received recognition for clinical expertise and high quality patient care by U.S. News & World Report as top performing hospitals 2016 to 2017.  Having reviewed hospitals for the past 27 years, U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide, helping to guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions.  To determine the rankings for Best Hospitals, objective measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, infection rates, and adequacy of the nursing staff, among others, are used.

Excela Health Frick Hospital has been recognized as a "High Performing Hospital" for the treatment of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Heart Failure.  Hospitals cited for outstanding care and quality in heart failure treatment were evaluated on positive patient outcomes, nursing care and number of cases, among other aspects of heart failure care.

Additional Awards and Honors

Excela Health hospitals -- Frick, Latrobe and Westmoreland -- have been designated Primary Stroke Centers by the Joint Commission and recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for exceeding national standards for quality patient care and demonstrating proficiency in the presentation and early management of stroke and TIA based on guidelines established by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association for health care professionals.

Excela Health has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The designation was awarded to Excela Latrobe, Frick and Westmoreland hospitals. Experts conducted peer review evaluations and determined that Excela Health has achieved high practice standards.
