EXCELA HEALTH MALL WALKERS
AT WESTMORELAND MALL, GREENSBURG

Excela Health and Westmoreland Mall have partnered to create the original INDOOR Mall Walkers Program.  Now in its sixth year, walkers in this program meet the fourth Thursday of each month (except December), 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Food Court, upper level, Westmoreland Mall, U.S. Route 30, Greensburg for:

  • Continental breakfast
  • Health screenings
  • Door prize drawings
  • Informational tables featuring our community partners including personal care homes, nursing homes, and others
  • Educational, health-related presentation

And, of course, you’ll want to get walking throughout the mall after the fun and every day of the week for the maximum health benefit!  A non-competitive walking program, “Mall Walkers” provides members with an array of activities and benefits, plus, it’s a great way to meet new friends and keep active!

Missed the August meeting?  Here's What Happened!

Tay Waltenbaugh spoke to our mall walkers this month about his experience at Excela Health.  An avid hunter and fisherman, along with his years on the basketball court, he sensed that all the activity was taking a toll on his knees, one that threatened to curtail his pastimes.  At age 63, he experienced severe pain in his knees due to arthritis, so, in order to maintain his rigorous lifestyle and to be an active presence in his young grandson’s life, he knew he needed joint replacement surgery.  Enter Gregory Bisignani, MD, orthopedic specialist, who performed bilateral knee replacement surgery, given Tay's Excellent physical condition.  Of the experience Tay noted that  “Excela Health made it easy”  especially since bilateral joint replacement is not the norm.  He credits Excela’s pre-surgery education for establishing clear expectations and goals for a successful operation and recovery afterward. He also realized that knees are made for more than walking.  As a grandfather, outdoorsman and business CEO, Tay’s knees will continue to carry him through every step he takes each day, thanks to Excela Health’s orthopedic and rehabilitation programs.

This month, walkers received a recipe and exercise information to continue on a healthy path throughout the waning days of summer.  See you in September!
