Dear Friend of Excela Health,

More than anyone, I know how important it is to have high tech, high touch medical care close to home.  I'm a cancer survivor and co-owner of a successful family business.  Operating our furniture store and dealing with a life threatening disease could have been overwhelming had it not been for the expert care I received from Excela Health.  That's why I have committed to helping the health system upgrade its intensive care unit at Westmoreland Hospital and hope you will join me in this endeavor.

Patients admitted to the ICU are the sickest of the sick.  Yet the environment in which they receive care is not always conducive to optimal healing.  A major renovation is about to begin that will modernize the hospital's sixth floor into a state-of-the-art ICU, resulting in a safer, higher quality patient experience for those with the most severe illnesses and injuries.

More than a year in the planning, the design for the unit comes at the conclusion of one of the health system's largest continuous improvement initiatives and is based on best practices nationwide for critical care.  The result: A $14 million capital improvement that will take up to 18 months to complete.

This project is no mere makeover -- rather, a complete overhaul focused on privacy.  When complete, the new ICU will improve the patient experience, promote healing, comfort patient families, and support the clinicians who provide care to patients who are most vulnerable.

This full scale construction is a long time in coming, and the benefits are obvious.  I am excited about this project and hope you will help to share in its realization.
