Incontinence And Pelvic Floor/Tension Pain
- Incontinence is the loss of bladder or bowel control resulting in involuntary loss of urine or stool. The cause is often pelvic floor weakness resulting in a loss of muscular support for the bladder, uterus or rectum. Tension or pain also can be caused by muscle, nerve or joint problems. These problems can be successfully treated through biofeedback, electrical stimulation, exercise and strengthening in an individualized treatment program.

Pregnancy - Changes in posture as well as back pain are common in pregnancy. Physical therapy can assist with education and the development of an exercise program to diminish pain and to prepare the pregnant woman for her upcoming delivery.

Post Mastectomy/Post Reconstruction - Women who have undergone mastectomies or breast reconstruction may develop musculoskeletal concerns that can include scar adhesions, muscular weakness, poor posture and shoulder pain. These can be addressed with various exercise programs.

Osteoporosis - When bones become thin and brittle, they break more easily. Physical therapy can assist women who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis through exercise that includes strength and weight training. Education on the risk of falls and serious injuries also is an important aspect of therapy and women's health.
