Excela Health

After a heart attack or heart surgery, patients may need cardiac rehabilitation, a comprehensive program of exercise, education and support offered at our Excela Health hospital campuses and the Norwin Medical Commons.  Here, the emphasis is on improving the patient’s cardiac health and reinforcing knowledge about their condition.

Rehabilitation begins at the bedside, often within 24 to 48 hours after the cardiac event.  Those who have experienced a heart attack, cardiovascular surgery, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) or stent placement most commonly participate in this early rehabilitation program, starting them on the road to recovery.

Rehabilitation continues after your hospital discharge, through a complete program of monitored exercise three times a week on an outpatient basis.  Additionally, we encourage continuing exercise in our Excela Health maintenance programs located within our facilities, at home, or an exercise facility of your choice so that good health practices become an integral part of your lifestyle.
