Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Center – One of a Kind in Westmoreland County
The 16-bed dedicated program offers:
Immediate proximity to acute care and clinical studies without the need for inconvenient transport. Monitoring and critical care support is also available. A physiatrist specially trained in neuromuscular disorders oversees the rehabilitation of each patient
Specialized treatment for neurological disorders such as:
- Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis
- Amputees and other prosthetic patients
- De-conditioned patients, such as transplant and cardiac patients
- Bariatric patients can be accommodated
- State-of-the-art rehab gym
A focus on integrating the social aspects of rehabilitation, promoting family involvement and a “socializing” setting.
Rehab patients are better prepared for a smooth transition back to home and the community with the center’s inventive program called the Neighborhood Way – a series of scaled replicas of common settings in which they can apply the skills necessary for daily living.
In a safe, clinical environment, patients can practice navigating such settings as a grocery store, car, library and bank machine, accessing them through a variety of terrains found in everyday life.
