Concussion Care
While concussions to professional athletes have received much attention recently, the fact is: for every one concussion that occurs in the pros, more than 5,000 happen in high school games. That’s why Excela Health has created a Concussion Clinic, with the double-sided objective of providing education to prevent concussion and using the latest techniques to treat and evaluate recovery after one takes place.

Dr. Masterson and the Excela Health Sports Concussion Program are proud to be a credentialed ImPACT® Consultant and leader in sports concussion management.

Our Athletic Training Outreach Program
We provide certified athletic trainers for local high schools and colleges to help with both injury prevention and on-the-spot attention when something occurs on the field. As allied health professionals, our certified athletic trainers specialize in the prevention, assessment, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of muscle and bone injuries and illnesses. They are generally one of the first health care providers on the scene when injuries occur. Not to be confused with fitness or personal trainers, they can recognize, evaluate and assess injuries, provide immediate care when needed, and "educate" others about becoming physically fit and reducing the risk of injury through various means.
Our certified athletic trainers also work under the direction of a fellowship trained sports medicine physician. If needed, Excela Sports Medicine specialists work with Excela Health Outpatient Rehabilitation to provide you with the right therapies at the right moment.
