QUALITY PERFORMANCE, EXCELLENT CARE ... WHAT OTHERS SAY
At the heart of a high quality cardiac program are the people who provide the care. At The Heart Center, our expert team strives to provide care that is compassionate and comforting, with quality outcomes and survival rates that equal or better those larger programs far from home. Here's what others have to say ...
Consumers Reports Ranking Among the Best
Excela Health's cardiothoracic surgical program is ranked among the nation's best by Consumer Reports in print and online at consumerreports.org/health. The Excela Health physician practice of Cardio-Thoracic Surgical Associates is ranked among the Top 10 Percent nationally, having received the highest rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) two years in a row. Known for its data-rich comparisons of products and services to help consumers make an informed choice, Consumer Reports partnered with STS to publish these ratings of heart surgery groups based on their performance in the area of heart bypass operations called coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Gold Plus Performance for Stroke Care
Frick, Latrobe and Westmoreland Hospitals have received American Heart/American Stroke Association's "Get With The Guidelines - Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award," recognizing Excela Health's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.
ACE - Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence
Excela Health has sought recognition by the Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), an organization dedicated to ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards for cardiovascular and endovascular care. In doing so, Excela Health becomes the first health care organization in Pennsylvania to hold accrediation for cardiac catheterization laboratory and angioplasty/stenting programs.
ACE is commited to helping facilities provide gold-standard health care by measuring the organization's structure, internal processes, patient safety practices and clinical outcomes against nationally-accepted, best practice standards.
To date, only five health care providers nationwide, including Excela Health, have earned this distinction, which is expected to become the Good Housekeeping Seal for medical centers that specialize in opening clogged heart arteries.
ACE is sponsored by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the American College of Cardiology Foundation, the two leading professional cardiovascular organizations, jointly representing more than 40,000 practitioners.
Quality Achievement Award From the AHA
Excela Health has received a "Get With The Guidelines - Heart Failure Quality Achievement Award" from the American Heart Association. The recognition signifies the health system has reached impressive benchmarks in the evidence-based treatment of heart failure patients.
Specifically, Westmoreland Hospital has earned the GWTG-Heart Failure Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award, acknowledging accomplishments over at least the past 12 consecutive months. Frick and Latrobe Hospitals each have reached the bronze level for meeting the rigorous standards for a minimum of 90 days. Continuing data collection will move the hospitals into the next award category early in 2012.
