Nurse Educators at Excela Health specialize in staff development by using Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to expand our nurses' knowledge and skills throughout their careers. Education provides nurses with practical information to deliver the highest quality of care in order to meet the multifaceted needs of our patients and their families.
At Excela Health, the graduate nurse and experienced nurse begin a robust orientation program with one week of classroom-based learning that includes:
- New Employee Orientation (NEO).
- Didactic classroom orientation that is structured to prepare the new hire nurse with information on our processes, policies, and procedures.
- Computer-based documentation training.
- IV skills lab gives hands-on practical training to our technology and medical equipment.
Following classroom orientation, the nurse receives preceptor-guided clinical orientation. The graduate nurse is provided additional mentorship and support by a Nurse Educator throughout orientation with continued follow-up lasting one year.
The professional growth of all practicing nurses is achieved through ongoing skill labs, in-services, computer-based learning, and competency development to promote excellence in patient care. Ongoing continuing education programs are offered to enable the nurse to achieve continuing education hours (CE) required for state licensure.
Additional professional growth is encouraged with the offering of a preceptor workshop to provide our experienced nurses the methods to nurture and encourage new hires.
