Excela Health

Graduate Nurses

Excela Health provides a comprehensive orientation program to assist the graduate nurse with their transition into their new nursing role.  A week long nursing orientation is provided to education graduate nurses on Excela Health nursing policies and procedures.  A preceptor is assigned to each graduate nurse for guidance and support through the orientation period.  Graduate Nurse Mondays provide graduate nurses the opportunity to network with their peers across the system.  A NCLEX review provides time for the graduate nurse to prepare for their board exam.

Excela Health Nurse Residency Program

Excela Health offers a Nurse Residency Program to newly licensed nurses.  The goal of the program is to support new nurses as they transition from nursing student into professional practice.

The Nurse Residency Program is an 18-month comprehensive program designed to assist with the development of skills and competencies necessary to deliver safe, efficient and high quality patient care.  Nurse Residents progress through four phases:

        - Phase I consisting of a general classroom orientation to Excela Health, Excela Health Nursing, and a precepted unit-based clinical orientation.

        - Phase II consisting of an additional 24 hours of interactive classroom education focusing on the key components of clinical, professional and leadership roles.

        - Phase III leads the Nurse Resident through independent, self-direted learning activities.

        -  Phase IV provides continued support through one-on-one mentoring to assist with continued professional development.
