Excela Health

How Our Foundations Work

The Frick Hospital Foundation and the Westmoreland Hospital Foundation are structured as two divisions of a parent organization - the Westmoreland/Frick Hospital Foundation. Board members of the parent organization are elected from the division advisory boards, all community volunteers who share in the mission and vision of Excela Health.

The purpose and mission of the foundation is to promote the interest of Excela Health and its affiliates, in particular Frick and Westmoreland Hospitals through fund-raising efforts from public and other legitimate sources all within the framework of a 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Service.

Scholarships

Nursing scholarships are available for those pursuing a nursing career.

Westmoreland Hospital Foundation

Since its inception in 1976, the Westmoreland Hospital Foundation has, to date, provided over $7 million for projects such as:

  • The construction of the Breast Health Center
  • The Center for Cardiovascular Medicine
  • Obstetrical Doppler equipment
  • The renovation of Barclay Rehabilitation - Inpatient Services
  • The purchase of a new CT scanner
  • Nursing education assistance
  • Hospice care
  • Pre-school vision screening
  • Lifeline units
  • The "Books for Babies " Auxiliary project
  • Special Events

Each year, the Westmoreland Hospital Foundation holds two events in which public participation is encouraged.

Black Tie Bingo, held in March, boasts an evening of food, fun and festivity as attendees vie for bingo prizes. The evening begins with a reception and silent auction followed by dinner and bingo games. Sponsorship packages are available and range from $400 to $2,500. Individual and benefactor tickets are also available. Proceeds from the event benefit Excela Health Home Care and Hospice patient care and family support services.

Best of the Best Golf Classic offers an opportunity for amateur golfers as well as the area's most talented high school student golfers to showcase their talents and enjoy a day of golf while benefiting various Westmoreland Hospital projects. Held at Totteridge Golf Club, the two-day event features a student competition where they compete for scholarships for their schools along with the opportunity to play in the following day's golf classic.

Donor Recognition

Through the Memorial Gift Program, donors are able to remember friends and loved ones while helping others and can support a variety of hospital programs and services. When individual gifts accumulate to a minimum total of $250, the loved one's name is placed on the Memorial Wall, acknowledging these gifts.

Gifts totaling $2,500 or more may be acknowledged further by dedicating one of the Hospitality Shop windows, which face the main lobby, or by naming a patient lounge in memory of that loved one.

Gifts totaling $5,000 or more are acknowledged by naming a hospital patient room in memory of that loved one.

Frick Hospital Foundation

In its short seven year history, the Frick Hospital Foundation has provided funds for new technologies, service provision and patient care. As new challenges are posed, community members from all walks of life have stepped up to provide financial support for a variety of project such as:

  • Emergency Department renovation
  • Lifeline units
  • Televisions for waiting rooms
  • Purchase of equipment and much more
  • Special Events

The Frick Hospital Foundation hosts two, seasonal events embraced by the communities they serve.

Frick Hospital Memory Tree Light-up offers the opportunity for all to honor or memorialize loved ones by purchasing lights for its holiday Memory Tree. A light-up ceremony held early in December brings together community and Excela Health family members for a moving ceremony of remembrance with all proceeds benefiting the Lifeline Emergency Response program, a personal response system for individuals who live alone or are at medical risk.

Frick Hospital Golf Classic is a fundraising golf event benefiting Frick Hospital programs, services and projects vital in caring for local residents. The golf event is a scramble format, followed by dinner and auction. Non-golfers are welcome to attend the dinner.
